Chippendale Style Bookcases
This was my first major private commission.
The clients lived in a Georgian Hall and had a library with an alcove each side of a fireplace. Bookcases were required to fit these recesses and hide radiators that were in the middle of each.
This was the accepted drawing of my design in the mid-eighteenth century Chippendale style.
Brazilian mahogany. Broken swan pediment. Cornice. Lancet arched glazing bars. Ogee bracket feet. Stained with vandyke crystals and french polished with garnet shellac.
